NHL Tonight: Top Bets
January 31, 2023

Here are our experts’ recommended bets for tonight’s NHL action.

Washington Capitals (-208, 6) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (+190)

The Washington Capitals have absolutely owned the Columbus Blue Jackets in recent history, winning both meetings this season by a combined score of 7-2.

Both teams are dealing with some injury issues right now, but the Blue Jackets have several that won’t be playing tonight including Zach Werenski and Jakub Voracek. Columbus isn’t playing for as much right now as the playoffs are becoming more and more unlikely.

The Capitals are trying to hand on to their current position and get healthy in the meantime. Washington should be pretty well rested coming into this contest since they have only played one game in the last five days. They have only scored 11 goals in their last five games, but we show they will get on track today.

We not only like the Capitals -208, we like the puck line even more (-135).

T.J. Oshie Over 0.5 Points (-110)

Oshie is a Blue Jackets killer. He has 13 goals and 29 points in 49 career games against Columbus, including a two-goal game in Washington’s 6-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Jan. 5.

Oshie’s offense has hit a bit of a dry spell, with just one point in the Caps’ past five games, but look for a spark to come from the line of him, Nicklas Bäckström, and Anthony Mantha, which should lead to at least one point for Oshie.
