NBA Basketball: Top Bets
January 12, 2023

Take a look below for our top bets for tonight’s NBA action.

Cleveland Cavaliers (-2.5, 220.5) vs Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers haven’t looked good lately, losing eight of their last 10. Additionally, their four most recent wins have come over the Pistons, Hornets, Rockets, and Spurs, who have the four worst records in the NBA.

On the other side, the Cavaliers have won 10 of their last 16, including four of their last six. Cleveland also defeated Portland back on Nov. 23 in a one-sided 114-96 victory.

Right now, the Cavs are simply a much better basketball team. Donovan Mitchell is playing out of his mind, the defense is elite, and their relatively young supporting cast is contributing exceptionally.

We like the Cavaliers -2.5 (-110).

Charlotte Hornets (+7.5, 232.5) vs Toronto Raptors

The Charlotte Hornets have lost eight of their last 10 games, including a 12-point loss to the Raptors earlier this week. The Hornets’ defense hasn’t been great lately and they have received little production from their bench.

The Raptors meanwhile have split their last 10 games, and are on a two-game winning streak. Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points. The Raptors are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win.

The Hornets will be shorthanded once again as Kelly Oubre Jr and Gordon Hayward are both out, while the Raptors are still missing Otto Porter Jr.

We like Toronto -7.5.
